Product Review: Mixed Chick conditioners

So at the suggestions of a co-worker who works at a beauty supply store, I decided to try the deep conditioner and the leave-in conditioner for a product line called "Mixed Chick". She brought me a sample pack so since I frequently wash my hair, I tried it the next morning. First the deep conditioner..... smelled great and felt great on my hair. It was an instant detangler...I wasn't even trying to detangle but I noticed my fingers were able to run through immediately. Once out the shower with hair rinsed, I applied the leave-in conditioner. I did not squeeze dry my hair first because in my experience with these products I know your hair should be as wet as possible. The leave-in is almost unscented but a nice thick cream base like I like. My curl definition was immediate. I hate too much shrinkage so i was kinda finger combing the curls straighter....but being a natural tightly coiled sistah it only did so much. Found out later after watching some videos that once applied completely I should not handle too much....to avoid the frizzies. I did start having some frizz problems in the very front of my hair but attributed that to being the area I played with the most. I will probably go ahead and buy this product, which average price is about $16 a bottle. As you can see from
the picture I retained curl definition into the day. These pictures were taken after about 3 hours. According to the website, you are free to touch and style as much as you want after your hair is completely dry. At the end of the day my hair is still pretty much soft and curly with a few "frozen" curls. I will use this product again for my shake and go days.

21 Day Fix - Overview Week 2

Ok my confession first; I didn’t work out much last week…..three days. I let life give me excuses and I used ‘em. I am, however, still eating according to plan for the most part and still dropping pounds and inches. Although this is a 3-week program, I really don’t plan to stop…. since the goal is to adapt to the habits as my normal way of eating I will simply continue. I still give kudos to the program because I was at a major plateau. Although this is simply a program of portion control and timely eating… it’s presented in a way that makes it understandable in a market that is just overwhelmed with "get-skinny-fast" schemes. Tools are provided that helps you to see visually the perfect balance of nutrients to fuel and nourish your body. And you can’t beat a 30 minute but still effective workout. I’ve found that I can even “stray” and still see a drop on the scale. Friday night, I went out to eat my all-time favorite meal of Mexican fare. I almost always order a large...

21 Day Fix Overview - Week 1

In my case, I am in the 1,200 to 1,499 calorie range! That allows me 3 green (veggies) 2 purple (fruits), 4 Red (protein) 2 Yellow (starchy carbs) 1 Blue (nuts, ect) 1 Orange (nuts and dressings) 2 spoons (nut butters, olive oil). You are provided with a list of foods that you can eat that corresponds with each container. I love it because I can easily pick from each list and create a meal plan for the week. I love that the foods are listed in order of importance. So the higher on the list the foods are the more nutritionally sound they are! Of course you should have a variety of foods from the lists to give you variety of nutrients for your body. I am a plan it out type of girl so this works wonderfully. I have not been eating out of the containers, but I measure and pour onto my plate. Now I’m kinda getting use to amounts so I know about 3 chicken strips equal a red container, that approximately 5-8 strawberries will fit into a purple container, etc. Surprisingly each time I ...

It's OK if you have to Walk Away.

Awww remember when you first met? Remember that teenage giddy feeling...remember how you felt when he first said he loved you or vice versa.... but what if you can no longer remember why you're there in the first place, if it's just not working, how can you stay together? Truly. How? I’m seeing this situation in two very close friends of mine and it makes me look at my own situation and evaluate that I’m in a relationship for the right reasons. Your partner does not have to be abusing you or neglecting you or doing or not doing anything in particular. Relationships end. I realize this is NOT the fairy tale we’re made to believe as a growing princess but relationships are hard work, right? I don’t know if I buy that.... love shouldn’t be hard work, love shouldn’t be painful.... and if it is then it’s time to re-evaluate. And when you know it’s over, you are wasting yourself and your time, not to mention your partner and his time when you stick around instead of exposing it for ...
