Weight Intervention Program - PREVENT

So I'm going to attempt to start back writing my thoughts. Yesterday was Day 1 of a weight intervention program I signed up for thru the job called Prevent. Before the 16-weeks started, they sent me a digital scale which will send my weight in daily thru wifi connection. So yesterday I weighed in at 213.8 and I took my measurements. Just the mere fact that I will need to step on the scale every morning may just be the thing I need to act right the day before...and not just because I'm stepping on the scale because I was doing that every day anyway....but now it's being sent into the world wide atmosphere... that little ticker that shows how close I am to my goals will bobble up and down if my weight goes up and down. I like that added motivation. Game On. Despite that fact, my weekend activities was riddled with food I didn't need. So this morning I was up one pound....(which I plan to drop right on back off by tomorrow..lol) I expect to continue to follow low carb eati...
My latest addition to my BeachBody collection received from my Black Friday special deal. Thinking of trying this in hybrid with 21 Day Fix workouts..Maybe Monday, Wednesday, Fridays to add some strength training and toning to my daily routines.

21 Day Fix Tally Sheet

Since I like everything condensed and able to fix and work with my yearly/weekly calendar... I combined two different tally sheets I found. and I print these out on 2x4 avery labels so they can be peel and stick to the day in my calendar. Nothing extra to tote around.

21 Day Fix - Overview Week 2

Ok my confession first; I didn’t work out much last week…..three days. I let life give me excuses and I used ‘em. I am, however, still eating according to plan for the most part and still dropping pounds and inches. Although this is a 3-week program, I really don’t plan to stop…. since the goal is to adapt to the habits as my normal way of eating I will simply continue. I still give kudos to the program because I was at a major plateau. Although this is simply a program of portion control and timely eating… it’s presented in a way that makes it understandable in a market that is just overwhelmed with "get-skinny-fast" schemes. Tools are provided that helps you to see visually the perfect balance of nutrients to fuel and nourish your body. And you can’t beat a 30 minute but still effective workout. I’ve found that I can even “stray” and still see a drop on the scale. Friday night, I went out to eat my all-time favorite meal of Mexican fare. I almost always order a large...

21 Day Fix Overview - Week 1

In my case, I am in the 1,200 to 1,499 calorie range! That allows me 3 green (veggies) 2 purple (fruits), 4 Red (protein) 2 Yellow (starchy carbs) 1 Blue (nuts, ect) 1 Orange (nuts and dressings) 2 spoons (nut butters, olive oil). You are provided with a list of foods that you can eat that corresponds with each container. I love it because I can easily pick from each list and create a meal plan for the week. I love that the foods are listed in order of importance. So the higher on the list the foods are the more nutritionally sound they are! Of course you should have a variety of foods from the lists to give you variety of nutrients for your body. I am a plan it out type of girl so this works wonderfully. I have not been eating out of the containers, but I measure and pour onto my plate. Now I’m kinda getting use to amounts so I know about 3 chicken strips equal a red container, that approximately 5-8 strawberries will fit into a purple container, etc. Surprisingly each time I ...

Calorie restrictions: Good Lesson or Set up for Failure

You already know the deal….keep on eating like crazy you ain’t gone lose a damn thang. I use MyFitnessPal and sometimes SparkPeople to track my food and beverage consumption. If you enter your information correctly, the website or app will give you a calorie allowance according to your age, weight, and height. Now here comes the hard part……staying within that allowance. It’s Monday morning…you gungho… you’ve even come up with your plan…Bam.. I’m gonna eat this, this, and this… Midday you hungry as hell….but you pumping yourself up….”I CAN DO THIS!!!... I’m eating right…hell I’m gone be fine as wine in summertime. I’m just teaching myself some discipline” You did it…you made it thru Day 1 within your allowance. Day 2 a little better…Day 3…damn they serving lunch in the office….. and man I been so deprived…surely this piece of fried chicken won’t hurt. Surely. But that piece leads to something else..sides? dessert?.. and afterwards you like hell today is blown…let me just gone enjoy an...

Going In

Going all in….again….cold turkey. The smoothie/shake fasting worked so even though I didn’t continue the two weeks following that trial…I have to remember that I did lose 7lbs doing it. So for the next three weeks I want to commit to continue doing that…. Maybe pick up some discipline along the way. Maybe let less become habit… Maybe build up some resistance. A whole bunch of maybe’s. So anyway, my body feels yucky today….cloudy…aloft kinda. I had two cups of coffee so maybe that’s a contributing factor. I did drink a couple cups of water, had my fruit smoothie so we’ve left the finish line at least. All Cool. Practicing Discipline…..Sunshyne Out.

As Clean As it Gets..... (for me anyway)

BANG!...And she's off ... I love Mondays because I'm always off to a good start. Started my day with a short 20 minute workout on elliptical/bike....made my first green smoothie with kale, banana, and green apple.Pretty good for my first. Still researching for tips and such. Energy level straight today so far. And plan to have a garden salad served with some turkey breast that i baked yesterday. Doing a 30 day challenge with my daughter to be consistent with cardio activity for 30 minutes per day average. We shall see... Sunshyne Out .

I'm gonna SANG like Jennifer.....

Well not really ..... but I joined WW360 on yesterday. I'm super duper excited. It's funny how God will put someone in your path to give you confirmation of something you been debating to do and then for this person to truly help you in that endeavor. I really appreciate good people surrounding me. I hope I help the lives I touch each day too. So me and my coworker just talked about it one minute and jumped online and signed up the next minute. Just like THAT!!!! BahZing! We had no plan, no clue....but even in the first day we were calling each other with new revelations that we read.....vowing to be accountable to each. I quickly realized after lunch that all those small "meaningless" morsels that I been popping in my mouth are big contributors to my plateau. I tried to blame it on the winter blues and being less active during this time and yes I'm sure that plays a factor but I'm now taking a long hard look at every little bite that I take and oh Lord Jes...

VACAY FROM REALITY...

It's going to be soooo nice when going on vacation don't mean stopping all efforts at taking care of my fitness. Since I was leaving on a Friday morning....I skipped all workouts Monday-Thursday to tidy up loose ends....last minute items, packing, extra cleaning.... then of course since there is no cooking (and preparing) while on vacay, we ate comfort food for SEVEN (7) days straight....plus alcohol....alot of alcohol. Then when I return, I get sick and down for an additional week. I just wish..being fit was more apart of my everyday life... without thinking....natural state. I shouldn't even want that extra piece of fried chicken knowing the effect it will have on my body. There is a consequence for every action....and I should want to protect the work I've already invested in my body. I have to make a conscience effort at all time. There's no ifs, ands or buts about it. This will always be a part of me. My fitness goals whether I'm trying to lose or trying to...

It's OK to start over...I do it every day!!

As I mark off the days to my sisterhood vacation week/cruise, I'm really now focused on my dietary intake. It feels really satisfying to see my daughter make an effort. Don't know if it's me nagging or seeing my practices continue for a long period of time or if she just see that she wants to improve her own body....whatever got her on board..I'm grateful. To me the more my immediate family can jump on board the better. The garage is all set up for weight training....and since my bedroom is away from everyone else ...I can do floorwork without distractions. I Just feel all the components are getting much easier for me to live the lifestyle I want....it's all on me. I have no excuses....so I don't offer any excuses. Feeling good about me getting better. Today I'm getting back on my hormones.....some folks say I've been a lil bitchy.....lol....We'll see how that goes. Sunshyne Out.

Still Truckin' along

Dang it's been a minute since I've blogged...Over a month. I enjoyed the 5 weeks for structured bootcamp. Something about knowing my exact schedule was exactly what I needed. Her meal plans were easy to follow although I didn't follow them on most days. In the end I didn't lose any weight but I lost 3 inches in my thighs and almost 3 inches in my waist so it was worth it to me. The first week without the camp schedule I was totally lost on what to do.....just winging it. At the job, they have opened up a nice fitness wellness center. It's the place to be right now so very overcrowded. My first experience at the beginners Zumba class was horrible.....she was so uncoordinated and appeared to not know her own routine. Yesterday I attended the Bootcamp Training Class and it was GREAT. We jogged, did squats, planks, mountain climbers, high knees and other things that had me sweating my weave out. I loved it. And although I hate to hang around till 6 after work, I think t...

Fit Chick Bootcamp in Full Effect....

I started a week late into a Fit Chick Bootcamp. I find that I need someone yelling for me to do specific things...i like group classes....it motivates me to not look like the one girl that can't keep up. Today was a two hour class and after a dance and stretch  aerobit workout for about 35 minutes, the instruction informed us we would be taking a 3 mile powerwalk. I haven't walked that far since my 5k in October (yes 4 months ago) ...but I handled it like a trooper. Wasn't in the front of the group but I kept pretty good pace and wasn't last either. I finished in good time. My muscles are sore like crazy but I'm glad I'm back in a group challenging class.

Nothing Going On.....Nothing going down.

Long and short of it....I'm stuck with weight loss. Could be I'm not pushing myself enough...could be I'm still over-portioned....could be my metabolism... Could, Would, Should. UGH. I read alot of blogs and websites boasting people that follow some slight modification for one week and lose over 5lbs....I've never experienced that. Even in the beginning, my loss has never been over 2lbs at a time. Very frustrating because I've made alot of changes in my physical activities and eating habits. I've even helped others with their plan. Ugh. Not discouraged enough to give up but I am discouraged. I just don't want to feel like I have to give up every single thing I enjoy in life. oh well....Sunshyne Out.

Down in the Dumps NO MORE...

Yesterday I was definitely in a funk. I can't seem to break that 20lb mark. I've dabbled around the same 5 pounds like forever. Almost everyday someone tells me I'm definitely losing.....I don't see it. I wear the same clothes and the scale is not moving. But I keep moving....I have definitely conquered the exercise mentality ...without fail I workout 5 times a week. Some days I try to talk myself out of the kickboxing class but I always feel great once I've accomplished anothe workout. Everyone in the class are advance MMA fighters....Seems they only do the class to appease me....I'm the new pink elephant in the room. Thank goodness they never make me feel that way. I'm headed to my regular Zumba class tonight with the girls and I'm really hoping the instructor takes it up a notch. Considering finding a more challenging class.... I catch on the dance moves almost instantly and I noticed in the last few classes that I'm so into it that I freestyle an...

Knee Up...

Sometimes I don't know if pain/discomfort I'm experiencing is simply weight related or if it's something I really should get checked. I've noticed my knee is constantly irritated. Only my left knee. At Zumba last night I could barely lean to the left while squat/plie. I kinda loosens up toward the end of the hour of aerobic activity but still hurts. Some kicks and such in MMA fitness really twist my knee up..... I was thinking that maybe because I'm not getting up on my toes more that the shoe-to-carpet connection is jarring on my knee but I'm just not sure. Every morning when I jump out of bed I'm limping pretty noticeably and this morning was no different. As the old folks say "Arthur was acting up" ...that is a possibility (arthritis) since it was very irritated during this morning's rainy weather. I guess I will mention it when I go for my regular checkup in a month but for now I'll just keep working it out. ugh.....Sunshyne Out.! (phot...

'Yes I Can' in my Obama voice....

I just realized that I'm so much more open to try new things. I think I was just much too comfortable in my fat chick mentality. See people think being fat is just in appearance and clothing size, but I’m here to tell you that being fat is also a mental disability so to speak. It can cripple you into thinking you can’t jump anymore, run anymore, dance anymore, be up front or speak your mind. Now doing those things yes they may hurt more with the extra weight but if you put forth the effort maybe that tiny lift off the ground becomes a full leap…..and that one two step becomes a full dance routine. I hate to even think of how much I said “I can’t” … I can’t walk a mile….I can’t wear that type of outfit….I can’t fit in there….on and on and on…. Now mind you I’m still a big girl….but my mentality is so far ahead of the game….and trust and believe the body won’t be too far behind. I got so many ideas for business ventures, for physical activities, and for helping others and I know I wi...
